At the 2020 BMO Real Estate Forum, which was held as a virtual event this year, we discussed what’s behind the trends driving the resiliency of the Ontario housing market. After taking a hit in the immediate aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, national home sales hit record highs in July, according to BMO Capital Market’s monthly report on the Canadian housing market. And despite some headwinds that could slow demand, existing home sales are expected to finish stronger than initially forecast for 2020.
Joining us in the discussion were:
- BMO Capital Markets Senior Economist Sal Guatieri, who provided an economic update for Canada and how it relates to the real estate sector.
- Raymond Wong, Vice President of Data Operations at Altus Group, who delivered an overview of key market trends.
