Danny Menard
Head, Indigenous Banking, BMO

Danny Menard is the Head of Indigenous Banking at BMO, leading the strategic enterprise growth of the Indigenous Banking Unit and strengthening relationships with First Nations governments, communities, and their members across Canada. In this role, Danny brings together BMO professionals and partners with a shared purpose: advancing economic prosperity and long-term self-determination for Indigenous clients.
Born and raised in Dauphin, Manitoba—a community surrounded by First Nations and Métis communities—Danny’s connection to Indigenous communities began early. He started his career as a junior accountant focused on audit work for First Nations governments.
In his mid‑20s, Danny proudly embraced his Métis heritage, becoming a recognized citizen of the Northwest Métis Council now the Red River Métis. He later joined the Manitoba Métis Federation in a leadership role, deepening his community connection and strengthening his experience in governance, strategic planning, and financial oversight.
Danny joined BMO in 2005 as a Commercial Account Manager, quickly establishing a reputation for leadership excellence, client focus, and business growth. His performance led to progressive leadership roles across Prairies, ultimately becoming Regional Vice President for the Mid‑Market segment before being appointed Head of Indigenous Banking.
Throughout his career, Danny has been a strong advocate for Indigenous hiring, representation, and economic advancement. He was a founding member of BMO’s Sharing Circle ERG and is recognized as a subject matter expert in Indigenous banking. Among his proudest achievements is supporting the sale of BMO’s iconic Portage & Main building to the Manitoba Métis Federation—soon to become the National Métis Heritage Museum in 2027.
